About Kae

Storyteller. Chaos wrangler. Movie-lover turned mystery writer.

Kae Allen writes stories that are layered, emotional, atmospheric, and filled with just enough eerie charm to keep you flipping pages late into the night.

Her paranormal cozy mystery series, set in the quiet, ghost-laced town of Oak Grove, begins with Under the Dark Moon, where a lakeside manor whispers secrets, a ghostly child won’t rest, and a mother’s love is put to the ultimate test. Kae’s storytelling is character-first and visually rich, written for readers who want just enough mystery to tingle the spine—but still want to sleep at night.

From Laughter to Lanternlight

Before the ghosts arrived, Kae co-authored two humor books—Cookies for Dinner and Panic Early, Panic Often—which chronicled the beautiful mess of motherhood with sarcasm, warmth, and the occasional meltdown over snack time. Those stories, built on lived chaos and honesty, helped Kae develop the deeply human lens she now brings to her fictional work.

Her books may have taken a darker turn, but at their core, they’re still about people—how we carry pain, protect each other, and make impossible choices in impossible moments.

Her Stories Play Like Scenes

Kae’s writing pulls you into the room. You see the flicker of the candle. Hear the creak of the stair. Feel the air shift when something isn’t quite right.

Her stories are richly visual and emotionally immersive—crafted with atmosphere, tension, and a rhythm that unfolds like scenes in a film. Readers who enjoy vivid settings, character-driven pacing, and a hint of the uncanny will feel right at home in Oak Grove.

Life Behind the Pages

Kae lives in Tennessee with her husband David, a vibrant cast of grown children, a gaggle of grandkids, and a very spoiled dog named Bernie. Her house is often full, noisy, and overflowing with stories-in-the-making.

When she’s not writing, you’ll find her rewatching her favorite mystery films, baking something sweet, or dreaming up her next plot twist over coffee with too much creamer.

She writes the kinds of stories she wishes someone would make into a movie—heartfelt, haunting, and just strange enough to stick with you.
